For a while I’ve been interested in the idea of a scalp ‘detox’. The topicals I’ve used haven’t worked(despite being loaded with ingredients ‘beneficial’ to hair growth). Therefore, I’m wondering more and more if these
topicals aren’t hindered by such things as fibrosis, toxins, calcium build-up…a general ‘clogging’ of the follicles that needs to be undone.

Many have mentioned Crzyakta as being one of the few forum members to have had complete success and he seemed to take toxins pretty seriously. He mentioned ‘Vata’, the phenomenon where toxins move up from the intestinal tract and up to the head/hair follicles. The scalp is an exit route for toxins with the unfortunate side-effect of hair thinning/loss;

From what I understand, much of Crzyakta’s approach to this problem revolved around changes in diet, internal detox…etc (although he also used scalp peels).

Along with scalp peels and essential oils (in particular jojoba oil, as it is claimed to dissolve sebum), I’ve become interested in the not-much-discussed use of activated charcoal to help lift toxins out of the scalp.

This patent proposes the use of an activated charcoal ‘skin patch’ for adsorbing* toxins, bacteria, heavy metals..etc

It seems that activated charcoal is administered for internal use in hospitals, in cases of poisoning or drugs overdose…etc.

Further info on activated charcoal:

I need to do some further research in this area but, not being scientifically minded, it would be nice to hear the input of others. I’m aware that certain clays also have absorptive properties (Morrocco Method’s Scalp Detox product
consists mainly of clays, I think) so I may look into this too.

*Adsorption should not be confused with absorption. With absorption there is no chemical bonding. An example of absorption would be a cloth absorbing water from a spill. However, with adsorption there are chemical bonds that form. (from;

Metal detox is something I think many are also missing out on. Some of you might remember our discussions at Hairsite about this..including the CH77 guy having regrowth when using his product(he did..maybe still does..have a pic of that on the website)

I’ve taken activated charcoal from time to time(like I do the metal detox from time to time…intestinal killing spree…etc)

Have you thought about applying it topically, Jacob? I guess it would have to be a water/charcoal paste. It is reckoned to draw out bacteria and fungus. Maybe it could even coax out those pesky demodex mites?

I’m not worried about mites I’ve never thought of using it topically..although doing some searching I wouldn’t mind trying something like that:

“Naomi Charcoal Essence Intensive Hair Treatment contains charcoal particles extracted from Japan Alder Tree through 2000 o C high temperature and they are ten times effective than ordinary charcoal particles. They can release infra-red to clean dirts from our hair,strengthen our hair,balance hair excretion and minimize hair lost,prevents hair breaking,itches,dandruff and odour. Charcoal particles produced through Nanotechnology are very fine and will polish your hair just like waxing without damaging your hair. The Polyquaterium 7 contains essence of ceremid protein to effectively repair damaged hair,keeping our hair bright,shiny and lively.”

They also have a shampoo: All that looks so familiar btw….

One place it’s available from:

This looks interesting:

“Dry / wet formula delivers highly absorbing micro-sponges and lip acid to absorb excess oils and purify the scalp and hair.

Specialized Lipa-Sponge System = instantly absorbs, purifies and protects against excessive oil caused by overactive sebum production
Lipacide =rebalances scalp pH level
Lemon extract = helps purify scalp”
